Cover Picture: Mechanochemical Synthesis of Stimuli Responsive Microgels (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 34/2023)
Mechanochemical approaches are widely used for the efficient, solvent-free synthesis of organic molecules, however their applicability to the synthesis of functional polymers has remained underexplored. In their Research Article (e202305783), Carsten Bolm, Andrij Pich, and co-workers developed a free-radical polymerization approach to mechanochemically synthesize structurally and morphologically well-defined complex functional macromolecular architectures, stimuli-responsive microgels, under solvent- and initiator-free conditions.
